Her multi-disciplinary career includes interpretive consulting and interpretive media design, book and magazine illustrations, numerous solo exhibitions, classroom teaching, commissions, lectures to professional organizations. She designs both indoor and outdoor exhibits including free-standing panels, kiosks, murals and interactive graphics. She has created interpretives for zoological, botanical, geological, and historical subjects.
Linda’s experiences span more than 32 years painting and drawing, 25 years as a natural history guide, 23 years working one-on-one with clients to design interpretive graphics and 16 years as sole-proprietor of her business. She has been an instructor for the Scientific Illustration Program with the University of Washington, North Cascades Institute, and the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum Art Institute.
Her combined experience has allowed her to produce numerous exhibits for the National Park Service, the Bureau of Land Management, the US Forest Service (AK, AZ, CA, OR, WA) and Mount St. Helens National Volcanic Monument and other state, municipal and private agencies, departments, museums and organizations. Her scope includes interpretive planning and signage design, artwork, graphic design, camera-ready mechanicals, and coordination with manufacturers.
To each project, she brings her extensive, first-hand knowledge of and enthusiasm for the subjects, which often concern personal favorites such as ornithology, aquatic ecology, botany, geology and river morphology, as well as a variety of ecosystems. She also enjoyed bringing to life the rich cultural history of Native Americans and pioneers.
On most of these varied projects, Linda lead the design process throughout the project, coordinating with architects, landscape architects, resource planners, archeologists, biologists and the public.
