A Fleeting Moment

As a gray fox silently pads among the rocky canyon slopes, it pauses when finding juncos. Melting snow remains in the crevices and exposes seeds from the summer harvest. The alert birds aren't fooled and are quick to respond with an instant flurry of wings.
