Canyon Illumination

Violet-crowned Hummingbirds are a favorite spectacle of bird migration in southeastern Arizona. Snowy white underside, topped with a brilliant violet crown, they are birds of sycamores and cottonwoods found in desert canyons. They will frequent flowers of all colors. Along with insects, the hummingbirds with their slender bills and long tongues provide a beneficial and necessary task of pollination.
