Teaching is my way of sharing, both the mechanics of drawing and painting as well as my fascination with Nature.

Animals lead interesting lives. It’s exciting to investigate their inner nature. Whether it’s birds, mammals or insects, portraying their lives is challenging. This includes habitats where they make a living, what they eat and their adaptations for survival. Not only animals, but plants, forests and landscapes, in all their light and texture, are also part of the rich world available for drawing and painting. Teaching adults and youths about animals and nature  shares my enthusiasm.

• The Nature of Drawing Birds: This workshop will guide, enlighten and inspire the artist exploring the realm of birds. The foundation of good bird portrayal begins with anatomy basics, the basis of form and function. Birds demonstrate superlative adaptations for survival in a variety of habitats and understanding what lies under those amazing feathers brings new insight into our drawings. We will identify form, posture and landmarks, and drawing live birds in the classroom will allow us to observe gesture and behavior.

• Live Animal Drawing Workshops: Featuring dynamic live models ranging from eagles, falcons, owls, hawks, turtles, alligators, lizards, armadillos and some very cool insects!

• Sky Island Workshops: The Sky Island region of southern Arizona is internationally important for it’s outstanding biological diversity. It’s wild and enchanting landscape attracts artists from around the world. These workshops are designed to immerse the artist in the variety of habitats, landscapes, plants and animals.

• Technique Classes: Drawing, Watercolor, Pen & Ink, Scratchboard, and Watercolor Pencil.
